
Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region in North-East France next to the German boarder. Strasbourg is situated in the Rhine valley, 20 km from the Vosges Mountains, 25 km from the black forest. Strasbourg is also home to the European parliament, making Strasbourg Europe's administrative capital.
Strasbourg is famous for its epic sandstone Gothic Cathedral and the city centre's medieval black and white timber framed Alsace architecture.
In 1988, Strasbourg was the first city to have its entire city centre classified world heritage by UNESCO. Strasbourg city centre is called “Grande Ile” (big island) for it is circled by water, creating a protected Alsacien paradise full of beauty, culture and great palaces to eat.
